Childcare Subsidy
3 Day Childcare Guarantee
From January 2026, families who are eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will be guaranteed at least three days of subsidised early learning and care each week for each child.
This means families can access up to 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight without needing to meet work, study or activity requirements. It makes childcare simpler and more accessible, especially for families with changing schedules or those returning to work or study.
The guarantee doesn’t mean childcare is free – families still pay the gap between the subsidy and the centre’s fees — and enrolments are still subject to availability.
Free Kindy Program
What is the Free Kindy Program?
Free Kindy is a Queensland Government initiative that means eligible children can attend kindergarten without paying kindergarten fees for part of their early learning year. It applies to the year before prep and gives families 15 hours of free kindergarten each week for 40 weeks per year – that’s up to 600 hours of free kindergarten.
Why Does It Exist?
The program is designed to remove financial barriers so every child can access early education and be ready for school.
